Fishing Options:

You will have a variety of options to consider:

If you launch from the park’s bayside camping area or fishing pier it’s just a short paddle to good fishing areas. There are numerous guts and channels along the 1-mile stretch from the pier east all the way across the mouth of St. Charles Bay. The first mile or so up into St.Charles Bay offers about every type of fishing bottom you could ask for: reefs, mud/shell, sand, and grass. This is followed by several spoil areas and more reefs, all within a comfortable paddle of the park launch area. Water depth varies from about 1 to 5 feet.

Going West from the park’s bayside camping area or fishing pier leads into Copano Bay. You can also get into this area by launching at the Copano Bay Fishing Pier.

If you prefer the northern end of St.Charles Bay then you can drive about six miles back along TX-35 to Cavasso Creek. Next to the small bridge is a launch area with parking in the grass. This area offers a variety of fishing options much like those found near the mouth of the bay but is more removed from boat traffic – nice for paddling and often very good for fishing too.

Aransas Bay runs South from the Park. It has deeper water and can get rough at times, but has some very good oyster reef fishing near the park.

Rockport fishing options are too numerous to mention here. For those wanting to explore that area see the fishing map or talk to others who know that area.
